They're at it again!
Phil and Kathy Lye are going head to head again at the Cardiff Half Marathon.
This time, Kathy is hoping not to get injured so that she can try and beat her husband to the finish line. Phil is hoping to retain his bragging rights and get there first.
You can sponsor either or both on our fundraising page. As always, thanks for your support and if you can make it to Cardiff on 6 October, please come along and support Kathy and Phil.
Thank you for your support
Thank you to everyone who filled in a questionnaire.
The survey is now closed, so we will be in touch with the lucky winner of free tickets very soon.
Marathon Battle of the Sexes
You may be wondering who won the Cardiff Half Marathon challenge on Sunday 7 October. Out of respect for the families of Ben McDonald and Dean Fletcher, we thought it was best to leave it a few days before celebrating our committee members' acheivements. The thoughts and prayers of us all are with them at this terrible time.
Phil Lye did very well for his first half marathon at 52 years old - he finished in a very respectable 2 hours and 34 minutes. Kathy did not do so well - she was happily running just behind her husband, sure she would be the victor in the end, when she pulled a muscle in her back and had to retire just past the five mile mark. She would like to thank the volunteers and St John's Ambulance for their help and care.
Both are eager to try the challenge again next year, so watch this space!
Remember, you can still donate via our fundraising page.
Thank you, Big Lottery!
We've been awarded a grant from the Big Lottery's Awards for All grant scheme.
Thanks to them, we are now installing a new sound system in the Hall. In the future, anyone hiring the Hall will be able to use the sound system that our star technical expert, Peter Davis, is putting in.
We're so grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for their support. We can improve the facilities available to the public because of their generosity.
